So I keep my vintage Macs alive for that. My trouble is that I haven't found anything close to the MIDI suite I now enjoy. It's just a collection of parts and any and all of them can be replaced. I know a lot can change in 3 years, but just trying to roughly calculate my financial plans as I'll have less income once retired.Īny insight you can throw my way would be appreciated.Never yet seen a computer that was "too far gone". Lastly, I know this is a bit of a debatable subject, but if I have an insanely fast computer (32 core cpu, multiple m.2 drives, 128 gig ddr4 memory), other than being able to track with HDX plugins, which I rarely do, would I really be losing anything to just go HD native?
#Digi 003 rack specs upgrade
With my current set up, if I just wanted to upgrade to the latest version of PT HDX, what would I need to get? Something is getting lost in translation and I'm not sure which upgrade is the "right" one. I'm confused with all of the different PT upgrades/packages. or what are the real benefits in terms of PT? If I have an HDX 1 set up with an Avid 16x16 io, which I'm generally happy with, what am I really gaining with these new thunderbolt interfaces, Avid and other brands? Granted my computer can handle it, does thunderbolt allow for ultra low latency recording etc.

I'm waiting on the PC build for the prices of high capacity m.2 drives to come down and to see what tech comes out in the next couple years, but I'm trying to learn and figure out some things on the Pro Tools side of the equation and hoping you can help. Hi guys, I'm retiring in 3 years and figuring out my plan of attack for doing one "last" PT upgrade and super-dream machine PC build before my retirement date.

Could you please advise?Īsus Prime x370-PRO, AMD Ryzen 7, 32GB RAM, Samsung 960EVO NVMe system drive, Kingston SSD projects drive, Windows 10, RME Digiface, Pro Tools HD 12.5 Probably I forgot to mention something or forgot to try something else, but I think this should be enough for anyone who experienced similar issue. Next thing for me will be to try it on Intel CPU, maybe it is just AMD thing, but I am not convinced. I tried it with different Buffers and sample rates, different BIOS settings etc.

I've tried this with Third party plugins, with Avid plugins, on RME and Mytek interface, I tried it with clean install of Windows 7 and with Windows 10. Bouncing only Master track (Right clicking on Master track and choosing Bounce option) works just fine and it respects the Automation just like it should - this is still making me confused. Interesting, Bouncing the project (using Ctrl-Alt-B on Win.) is affected by the Bug. Freezing works perfectly and it respects Plugin Automation. Workaround for me at this moment is to freeze up to the Plugin which is using automation. Sometimes it will be off as soon as project is opened, sometimes it will become off while working and playing within project, but mainly some of the Plugin Automation will be off as soon as I open project. Or, I just watch meters, they play differently.

How to replicate the bug? I just hit the play, then I Solo the tracks individually and check if it is happening on some of them. In this test project, Third snare hit should be completely muted by the volume Trim control, but the problem is - sometimes muting happens after the hit, and the delay depends on amount of System delay in which the tracks flow. Also, for this case, I used multiple instances of Fabfilter Limiter on Master Bus - cause it gives enough of System Delay so that the issue is more pronounced but The delay happens if we use any Plugin which makes Plugin-sample-delay. I uploaded the test project, in which I am using automated Trim control on 9 duplicated tracks.

It is the Plugin Automation parameter effect on the sound (audible part of the Plugin automation) - that is delayed - sometimes. It is not GUI that is delayed, watching the automated plugin parameters, all the the automation GUI is working fine, on time, on all tracks.

It is not the track itself, the track sounds perfectly aligned with all other tracks. So to, hopefully, make this more clear: It is not all types of automation, it is just Plugin Automation. It's like ADC randomly is not working for Plugin Automation parameter part, while for everything else (Faders, Audio, GUI.) it is working. Plugin Automation delays randomly in amount of summed sample-delay of all plugins that are active in AUX/Master tracks in which the Plugin Automation flow.ĪDC is on. In recent couple of days I've been going crazy with this thing, and the thing is:
